Summer Soltice makes for a Waxing Gibbus Moon…

Happy Summer solstice! Hope your day was full of warm memories, your plants will need good deep watering after a couple of days of hot weather. Now that the sun is cooling down, your garden will be an inviting place for a nice outdoor evening to deadhead or just relax and enjoy watching the fireflies.  Yes, their back, spotted a few the other night.   The large bright moon aka ” supermoon” will appear to be a full moon, even though it isn’t.  The  true full moon will be Saturday night.

According to Farmer Almanac, tonight’s moon will be a “waxing gibbus” – only 96% full.  Farmer’s  Almanac, also states that this evening would not favorable for planting.   So take a break and enjoy your garden and the wonderful “waxing moon”. 

Don’t fret, those late planting crops beets, carrots, potatoes and other root crops are best if planted on June 23rd thru June 25th.  Farmers Almanac, has been giving farmers and gardeners wonderful information for years.  Like anything else you have to decide what works for you.  But it sure is interesting, sometimes things work for unexplained reason.  Enjoy this mystical ,” Summer solstice Waxing Gibbus Moon” after all  this supermoon, won’t come around again until next year.   Until later, El
